i m pinky new to this site.

i m new to .net just finished the course recently.

want to become very perfect in .net(Theoritical n practical)asp.net ,vb n c#.

want to know some gud sites(which has code samples(real time ones) n covering all theory for beginners like me.)

n also some sample .net projects.so tht i get an idea how projects r handled in companies.

n books tht vl help me to become perfect n confident in .net.

Also have a look at the series of Webcasts by William Steele. Since I've discovered them, I always recommend them to those just getting started, because they do a decent job of covering the basics as well as touching on more advanced topics. They are presented with videos, which sometimes helps to make certain aspects of learning more fun and also helps the information sink in better for some people.

Suggest new Forum for Localization/Resources? (Yes/No) ...

Hello,

I would like to propose a new forum entitled "Localization/Resources" -- anything to do with resources, the resource manager, and localizing/globalizing web pages.

I've posted a couple of questions over the past few days regarding the resource manager and localizing web pages to no avail. Perhaps opening a new forum that is dedicated to this topic would help (just a suggestion)...

I think this is a good idea. I've posted lots of messages about using different character sets and globalization but it's hard to get a good discussion going.

suggest multi-file upload components?

I'm looking for some options for implementing a file uploading tool. The
'catch' is that it's been requested that we accomodate files from 2 to 100mb
in size, and, ideally, the ability to upload up to 20 files at a time.

I've been looking around a bit and it seems as if element-it.com's products
will work:

They appear to have a file upload script that gets around some of the large
file issues that the default asp.net file upload classes have in addition to
a nice Flash-based component that allows one to browser to multiple files at
once.

Has anyone used this product? comments? Suggestions for other components to
look at?

If you're uploading such large files, have you considered using FTP rather
than HTTP uploads?

are hundred of ASP.NET hosting companies.

Can you suggest one or a couple of good ones?

I'm looking to build a small Web site (for fun only). Might not even need a
database, but if there is SQL Server, that would be great. The cheaper, the
better. Free would be great, but I do want FTP access. Being able to upload
from VS.NET would be great too, but not essential. ASP.NET 1.1 is prefered.

Can anyone suggest a good way of achieving the following;

I have a database table that contains say 30 records. I want my user to be able to view a list of all of these records and then select which ones they want to appear in a report. So they might select only one record, they might select 5 different ones. I want the records they selected to appear in one place on the screen and the others to appear elsewhere at the same time. Then they click on a button and my code uses the primary keys of only the selected records to extract data from my table.

I think you might be able to achieve this by using two listboxes side-by-side in an html table but the text that the user will need to identify the record is going to be over 200 characters long.
